Yasi forced the closure of 300 schools across the state today
Just as Queensland schools were returning to normality, following the devastating floods in the state, the arrival of Tropical Cyclone Yasi has meant further disruption.
The Queensland Department of Education advised that more than 300 schools in Far North Queensland, North Queensland and Central Queensland were closed from yesterday, ahead of the expected arrival of Yasi last night.
Some weeks earlier, some 92 state schools, 60 Catholic schools and 13 independent schools across Queensland were affected by the devastating flooding in the state.
SchoolAid is calling on schools to take part in its Floods Relief Appeal Day on Thursday, February 17. Go to http://www.schoolaid.org.au/ or click here< back to the blog
