Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, from Mindarie, Western Australia, have just returned from their fantastic Japan ski experience trip that visited both Hakuba and Tokyo over the course of 9 days.
The Japanese have a technology, and a new, innovative way of doing everything! Be it building cars, using vending machines or car parking, they will reinvent it. The same goes for their ski resorts and the resort experience. Japan has been blessed with mountain ranges, light, fluffy powder and huge snowfall’s year after year. This amazing and eye-opening country has taken this gift and turned it into some of the best resort skiing to be had, around the world.
Often, with a huge market for western skiers, these ski resorts offer ski-in, ski-out bliss, English speaking, friendly customer service and high tech facilities. However alongside all this westernised ease is bucket loads of culture from ramen restaurants and local sushi-places to a friendly “arigatou gozaimasu” ringing out from the lift stations. There are onsens, the cultural hot spring’s of Japan and also temples and places of Japanese significance. EA School Tours, through their itineraries, aim to utilise the best of the modern, westernised benefits and mix them with great Japanese cultural elements to create exciting, and eye-opening school tours for students.
Peter Moyes experienced this themselves when they visited Hakuba for 5 days of skiing in the heart of the Japanese Alps. Alongside their skiing, they visited the Snow Monkeys and Zenko-Ji Temple, an important Buddhist temple in Nagano City, which houses what many believe to be the first Buddhist statue ever brought to Japan. They finished their trip in Tokyo where they enjoyed a half-day tour visiting specific Toyko landmarks such as the renowned Shibuya crossing. Peter Moyes ended their time in Japan with a bang, visiting the iconic, Tokyo Disney Resort on their last day. What a way to end it!
Mrs. McDiarmid, The teacher from Peter Moyes Anglican Community School said this of their trip to Japan, “The trip was wonderful – both the staff and students agreed. Everyone particularly enjoyed our time skiing/snowboarding in Hakuba. Everything went smoothly, both on the slopes and in Tokyo. Our guide Sam was great – he was invaluable in Tokyo and made sure we made the most of our short time there.”
The best part of the trip for this school was, in both the eyes of the teachers and the students, the skiing in Hakuba. They thoroughly enjoyed their time there and felt that the entire trip was a great opportunity for the students to experience overseas learning.
“EA was great to work with in planning our trip to Japan. Everything was well organised and allowed the staff and students to have a successful and enjoyable trip.”
